Before this picture becomes old news, I will blog about it because, boys and girls, ignore the toilet setting and that vain, self-absorbed expression for a moment and you will realise... Gaaaaahhh!!! I can actually fit into Suemin's uniform and don't I look onz? Hahaha...

Was supposed to be enthusiastic so I borrowed 2 sets of uniform (one for HW) for the campus superstar recording, so that the two of us can sit up front with Kelly and gang. Decided against it at the last minute because Ming wasn't gonna wear any school uniform and I wasn't gonna let her sit alone. Also, I think it's freaky if anybody sees me on t.v. like that. Wei might kill me. XY will kill me.

So anyways, enjoy the Su in school-u pic here.

We keep saying we should have a sch-u themed something... I think we should. Somebody should organise something!

Today was my first day of work and I really felt like sleeping at 430pm. I should really be sleeping now. And to end off abruptly, three random thoughts about the job:

1) The hours are longer than I had hoped :(
2) I'm convinced that I can do the job but I still feel pangs of inadequacy!
3) Thank God it's Friday tomorrow!!! YES!!!

More on this later!

Introducing PHOEBE!!!

This is a combined entry for the last 2 checkups. The doctor did try to take clearer pictures the second time round but well, let’s just say he’s a doctor and not a photographer for a reason. The mother is visibly more excited already! Harhar! Good sign!
Behind in yellow is Phoebe's dad, getting us some Milo.

Phoebe, we cannot wait for your arrival! Actually, we can, because we want you to come out only when you are ready. Hee… You are gonna be so loved by your parents, soooo loved it’s gonna be amazing.

I hope that for most of your life, you will be happy and cheerful like Aunty Pixie and Aunty Moon, let them sprinkle you with their optimism. But for sure there will be times when you feel morose or scared, even lonely or depressed… because all these emotions come with being a human. But it’s ok :) It will always be ok. Because you see, there are so many of us magical Aunties, each with a different (maybe some similar) function, and alongside your dad and mom, we will be there for you. Whether you need a confidante, a teacher, a partner-in-crime, a doormat… you will find that at least one of us can play the role. *cough* We’re quite into role-playing. *cough*

Ahhh… But charming as you will be, I think you’ll find other wonderful people to fill these roles in your life, and that is really the greater blessing. And as your magical Aunties, we will be contented to just flying around in the background, doing what magical Aunties do, which is to fly around in the background and eat cake all day long. And get fat.

Yes, you can brag about our flying if you want.

I'm super tickled by this Carlsberg Beer tagline that says: Farewell Ang Mo Kio... Hello Monaco!
(They are having this 'Win a trip to Monaco' thing.)

Hahahaha!!! So smart, these people! I saw it on the back bumper of a cab but a pity it's not on their website... It's so witty!

Oh, and does it reflect something about the beer guzzling community of our society that so many of our beer advertisements seem to associate beer-drinking with 'ability to attract friends'? What? Lonely people drink beer? Is it???

I didn't take a picture of the before cos I was too traumatised but hey look! My Dad's car is spanking new now! Yay!!!

In fact this side is now looking even better than the other side and Dad was in a super good mood when it came back all nice and polished. (Ok, now's not the time to remind me of the cost.)

Happie :)

Wednesday, 16 May 2007

Now that I've duly injected my body with sugars, artificial flavourings, preservatives and other chemical what-nots, I can start typing. Hurhur.

Today is I-NEED-JUNK-FOOD day!

A week or so ago, HW saw a Channel 8 drama (we call it The Mar & Venus Show) on TV mobile. The drama tries to look into the mechanics of men-women relationships and as the story runs, they often freeze a frame then print out words of wisdom on the side, such as 'Tears are a woman's most powerful weapon'. (Urgh. So cliche. Puke.)

Cliche aside, HW commented that they are propagating warped ideas to viewers by displaying such 'teachings' in a seemingly unbiased manner. But it is, after all, a show of fiction. I actually believe that Singaporean viewers ought to have their own minds in discerning what's good or no good on T.V. They should be able to decide for themselves if something is dished out in jest or full seriousness (and even if it's the latter, it doesn't mean they have to buy it).

But anyways, on this topic... I was listening to FM98.7 this morning and they were running a Twisties contest, promoting Twisties and all that. I heard the DJ say matter-of-factly, "Twisties is good for everyone!" (What rubbish! Twisties is junk!!! The healthy-eating me is getting worked up!) It's so evil to disguise a promotion this way! It was clearly not an advertisement or a play but a semi-conversation between two of the DJs.

Well just so they know, I, champion-discerning-radio-listener, will not be taken-in with all this media crap. Hahahahah!!!

So what happened was, I came to the office and found that I had an honest craving for junk food, specifically, TWISTIES!!! (Just couldn't get that name out of my mind.) So I went down to the nearest 7-11 and grabbed a cheese-flavoured Twisties. Hurhurhur... I even threw in 2 packets of Kinder Bueno and a pack of Peanut Butter M&Ms.

YAY!!! *Confetti*

Ivan very freakily asked us about a book - a book! - the other day. It was The Little Prince. So I promised to let him borrow it and said I'd reread it just in case he had any questions while reading.

WAH!!! Ivan 害我!!! Because reading The Little Prince was super emo... boohoohoo! You've been warned, it's not for the faint-hearted.

I remember reading The Little Prince many years ago... it was a very quick read and as I returned it to the library, I was clueless as to why it was thought to be that great. Then, for some reason, Ming bought a copy of it and that is why we have a copy lying at home, left untouched until now.

Now, many years later, I picked it up and devoured every word with a sort of clarity that had slipped me by before. Almost as if I was digesting it for the first time.

I'm not sure I particularly love the Little Prince...or any of the characters in the book as many people do. I'm just... not sure. The characters are not clearly loveable to me, in that sense. If there's a character I love, I think it would be first and foremost the narrator.

But the Little Prince himself, is real and what makes him real is that he has his eccentricities. He has made mistakes, he has been hurt and he is struggling to come to terms with all of that.
The Little Prince also started off confused and unsure. Any liking I have for him would be due to his courage. It was difficult for him to leave his planet, to leave his rose, but he needed to. He had to make his journey. He just had to leave. It was... his destiny and also the destiny of the many others who'd meet him along the way.

I think I can see now, how it's all purposeful and meaningful, every ounce of pain and loneliness in the book. They all contribute to a better understanding of the lives that the characters are leading.

By the end of the book, I had sunk into an emotional abyss so deep,

but it was all kinda sweet.

Fact is,
I have a father. He gave birth to me. He loves me. He cares for me. He works hard to provide a comfortable life for my family.

God, please help me focus on these great things!

Do you believe in luck?
Seriously, do you believe in this superfluous thing called luck?

Because it seems that since I got back from the UK, I have been having a spate of bad luck. And if I’m superstitious, I might reason the bad luck to be brought upon for several reasons.
1) I might have brought some nasty spirit back from the UK (no, it wouldn’t be from HK).
2) Knowing how I like to shoot off my mouth and say all, bare all when I talk about Gods, deities etc, I might have accidentally offended one (or more) of them.
3) I have not been bringing my amulets around with me and this might have caused me to be down-er than usual.

So what is it? And how do I rectify it?

Thing is, I’m not sure if I really want to blame everything on luck. It could be just me, my attitude or the way I handle situations. It could be life and the challenges that come with it. And if I take a step back (as I always should), things are really not that bad. Not that bad.

Anyway, here’s the latest unlucky shit that happened to me.

I just got into this little car accident. And my dad was super pissed off. Sigh. There I was having this happy-ish morning… But of course, I should be grateful that no one was hurt other than the vehicles. And I should be grateful that hey, the fact that I can drive means I’m privileged enough to possess a driver’s license. And at least I am and still am healthy enough to drive.

You see, there are many other positive and great things happening to me but I often fail to see them because I’m immature and self-centred (both, only to a certain extent). Maybe when something crappy happens, I should take it as an opportunity to look at my fortunate bits. Like if a song I don't want to hear comes on the radio (as now), I should just be happy that I have ears and that I'm not deaf.

I should not get too caught up in my misery. I should not get too caught up getting caught up in my misery.

I must celebrate Thanksgiving this year.

I guess being positive is a habit to be practised and cultivated but well, every joy is a conquest, so let’s just see how far I can go in trying to focus on those great things.

Yippee... egged on by HW, I'm gonna be posting alot of long overdue pictures today! I'm just gonna sort of document the events so hopefully it'll not be too boring...

Set One

Jack's Place!!! Just in case some people have a misconception about the restaurant, their food is really in the not-that-ex-yet-quite-tasty region. We were there several weeks ago for dinner. That night was meant to be spent at Balaclava watching Ein, Kewei & Serene sing but cos the place was so crowded and not to mention, DY was actually underaged (WTH!!! That place is for old people???) we left. Oh well, the crowd that night seemed like old-fogey poseurs anyway.
After Jack's place we headed to Geylang for durians but we didn't take any pictures there. Ok, the durians that day were just ok... but I think DY had a field time flirting with durian seller 猪强哥! Haha... cute name...

DSCN5318
This is what I had for dinner.

DSCN5320
Here's Ming and me... before I cut my hair.

DSCN5319
And here's HW & JY, before JY cut her hair! HW was saying she don't have many recent photos taken with JY, there you go!

Set Two

About a week ago, I think, Ming & I went down to the Esplanade cos Ein was performing with Kewei, Alfred & Peter. We couldn't resist being touristy and taking pictures!!! Anyway, more tourist activities later!

DSCN5390

DSCN5395
Seriously, 有那么开心吗?

DSCN5396
And here's Ming, of course she's always 开心!!!

DSCN5397
Ein looks like a blur here cos my camera is really not that good but in fact she was super cool on stage!!!

DSCN5400
A much clearer pic of Ein and the rest of them.

Set Three

WH's friend, Ken, was visiting and she, being the most hospitable host, rounded up the onz-est people in Singapore to keep him company! Heh.
I do enjoy showing my friends around when they come... and WH's excitement pre-Ken's arrival reminded me of Lian's trip 3-4 years ago!!! Lian, 快来找我!
Ok, we started the day with Yakun brunch then KTV at Cash Studio.

DSCN5402
Super emo KTV-ing!!! Thanks Jesse for sharing my emo corner!!! That guy in red is Ken and he sounds like Takeshi Kaneshiro.

DSCN5403
Ming doing her thing...

DSCN5404
Or course we got to sit in the Toy Car again! Off to shopping as Ken very generously contributed to our well-being by boosting the Singapore economy! WH looking pleased as a cheshire cat!

DSCN5407
There's me trying to be funny!

DSCN5414
This is me again... duh... taking the chance to get more me-in-the-Toy-Car shots when we stopped over at a petrol kiosk. Ming looks good!

DSCN5413
Jesse, demonstrating how and where to pump petrol. Cool right?

DSCN5416
And finally, a group shot outside MOS at the end of the long, long day... which didn't feel that long really! (Hey! HW, we don't look that oily!)

Set Four

Ming and I just can't seem to get enough of the tourist thing! Last Sunday, when there was no singing class, we decided to check out Earshot cafe at The Art House.

DSCN5421
We were on our way there from Raffles Place station. The weather looks so good on picture but infact the heat was maddening!
And here I am posing with my birthday present from the gals! Erm... some of the gals still don't know that this is their birthday present to me so let me tell ya gals now! Hehheh... I want some 黄俊郎 books as my prezzie! Thanks! Erm... I've bought them so you can pay me next time! 哈哈哈!(I'll blog more on the books in another entry... I started on the first one and it's quite inspiring!)

DSCN5422
Taking pictures of Ming like that reminds me of the time when me and her went touring in Yokohama. It was so fun! I really miss all the day trips (or just trips) we took together. I remember we walked like shit at Yokohama and it was kinda cold but all the pictures turned out so nicely. The discovery element was very strong as we made our way into little nooks and crannies and found quaint little shops. Ahhh... Japan... When I think back on those Japan times now I realise how I possessed an inquisitive spirit then... and now?

DSCN5426
Ahhh! Fat arm!!! Hahaha... why do my pictures all look like 沙龙照!
Anyway, on this tourist-foreigner thing, so I kinda look like a Japanese on my good days, right? I was doing a recording for Tristan the other day (should have been a good day) and upon knowing that I majored in Japanese Studies, Tristan's friend, Adrian, who was mixing for us, said, 'Oh... no wonder you look abit like a Japanese! It's purposely one right? Ohhh... it's purposely one, right?' Hahahaha... no leh, it's not purposely one! How to purposely???

DSCN5427
Singapore can look nice too!!! :)

DSCN5430
This is Earshot cafe. We came because I felt like writing and 早报 ran a very positive feature on them that morning. Thing is, they don't serve food on Sundays so we could only get drinks. Still, it is a nice quiet place with a literary ambience and indeed, it was conducive for writing.

DSCN5435
Here's my cup of cappucino, looking very depressed. Hurhur.

DSCN5434
And to prove that I was there!

Ok, more pics next time! Hopefully we'll take some nice ones at today's picnic! Ahhh... I'm late already!

Friday, 20 April 2007

I knew I shouldn't have succumbed to a cup of coffee at the cinema yesterday evening. It kept me awake past 3 a.m. last night! Panda alert... ... yawnz... thank God it's Friday!

Anyway, was watching the Hong Kong Film Awards a few nights ago. Eric Tsang opened the event with a speech lamenting on the closure of cinemas in Hong Kong over the course of the year. Movie goers are opting to stay at home with DVDs now more than ever, leaving the Hong Kong movie market dwindling and pathetic. This is not the first time I've heard such news, think it has been this message at the last and last, last and last, last, last award as well. 'Support Asian movies', they've been repeating this year after year, for the longest time but it seems, to no avail. Sigh.

According to the thespian, movie makers always start-out to make something that could only be maximised on a big-screen cinema-theatre. That's the experience they want to give but as more and more people begin to disregard this, they are I suppose, discrediting their art as well. But then again, I do think many Hong Kong movies nowadays are made for the small screen, don't you think? Look at those many, many comedies some of which are not even funny. It seems to me such movies are made with solely commercial-value in mind. Not even entertainment. I do value entertainment but I would so much more if it were a combination of creativity, thought and passion. Thank God there are still people like Daniel Wu (and of course those other nameless faceless warriors that I dunno of).

As LZ had said to me last night, some people in production are just going through the motions. They don't seem to want pride in their work anyway (anymore?). A pity. But LZ's attitude in her work is really great! I really admire her for following her dream and persevering and finally doing so well now. She and (some of) her colleagues seem to have a great rapport. It must be fun to work surrounded by these creative types, especially when she is one of them.

We were watching Meet the Robinson's last night and whilst I cried buckets because of the inspirational theme, LZ cried from an epiphany. She realised again why she's in animation – because she simply has a passion for it.

Passion.

In all, my whole of last night was coloured with Meet the Robinson's slogan 'Keep Moving Forward'. It just made so much sense. In life, in matters big and small, even when you think you're being obstinate holding on to your passion, remember that it's essential to be moving forward. It is then you can get a taste of the journey, a taste of being alive. Inertia would just mean a big waste of time.

Here it is! The Toy Car!

Picture0176

Picture0177
Strange... is that my fist clutching the steering wheel? How come I don't see my face???

Monday, 9 April 2007

Chef Chuan of Brewerkz is a person that would not have crossed my path had WH not started work in her current job and invited me to dinner with her last night. He is an interesting character, not unimaginable or out of this world, but I think it’s cosmic intervention how we were having first-time conversations yet some of the things he said in general seemed like advice tailored just for me. Get what I mean? These things just happen sometimes.

He seemed like a happy-go-lucky guy, dreaming with his feet firmly planted on the ground. He is a happy man. I’m dead sure. Serious about his work yet never worrying excessively, taking each situation as it comes while fulfilling what he thinks is responsibility – in work and in life. "Life is fun!" he said. He has the ability to discover the humour in things. And also, Carpe Diem, I think that was what he was trying to convey.

I really do believe in Carpe Diem. I want to Carpe Diem.

I want to live in the now and be happy, just for this moment. Not being hung up about eternal happiness, I think, is the key to happiness.

Don’t you find that sometimes, even tomorrow is too far away for you to grasp and to understand?

只要我們在沒有傷害到別人的範圍之内,

現在的快樂
怎樣都比
未來的幸福
更實在。

Don’t you think???

So… children!!! Liberate yourselves today and allow yourselves some instant gratification, now!!! Relax. Enjoy, Life!!!
Because this is what it's all about.

DSC00440

Cool or not?

Very!

Ahhhh… I just answered my own rhetoric question. Next thing you know, I’ll be sprouting horns. Hahaha… Ok, you can’t actually see the entire jeep from here but I'm on a jeep, and a very old-school, military one for that matter! This lean mean machine belongs to a friend of Jesse who has very graciously passed Jesse the keys for the longest time. (I also want a friend who can lend me a car.)

When I was in the jeep, there was an overwhelming sensation to show-off because it was just too cool. Ming said she had an urge to wave to random people on the streets. I totally understand.

Jesse, I think you carry the vehicle very well not least cos you sent Ming & me home but because you have that I-drive-this-kinda-gek-sae-car look! Harharhar! I'm crappy today.

The security guards at my place were so excited when Jesse turned into my condo and they went, “Oh, this must not be a resident lah! Harharhar!” Erm… are you saying the jeep’s too cool for people in my area??? Grrrrrrr…

Okay, anyways, thanks Jesse! I absolutely enjoyed the ride! Here are more pictures of us IN the jeep. (Mind you, not OF the jeep because we always get carried away taking pictures of ourselves. Next time I take a picture of the jeep and only the jeep, ok?)

DSC00280
Blurry pic, doesn't show much, that bit you see there is part of the CTE tunnel.

P1193836
This was taken on WH's birthday at the very narrow Haji Lane where Jesse did a Haru, maneuvering the jeep.

P1193837
The usual suspects, posing happily, as usual.

As a person who values my life, I am resuming the P-chan stories due to the many fatal threats that have been coming my way.

Dedicated with love to Lai Fu.

The Great White German Shepherd

Once upon a time, 3P-chan used to take this route to work everyday.
A little road, only a metre wide, twisting and turning through the lush thickets of the Black Forest.

The Great White German Shepherd appeared only a year ago. Standing beside the rose bushes, he purred like a kitten, and wagged his bushy tail.

“Cute Doggy!” 3P-chan cooed and made forward to touch his gleaming fur.

“Grrrrrr…” The Great White German Shepherd growled. “Grrr… grrr…” as if saying, stay away from me. 3P-chan retreated her hand and kept it in her pocket.

Then, The Great White German Shepherd started purring again and peeped at her with his large brown eyes.

Such a beautiful and kind-looking dog, thought 3P-chan, he must not have meant to bite me. And she put her hands out, palms down and tried to stroke him again.

“Grrrrr…” The Great White German Shepherd bared his teeth. He snapped at her fingers.

He must not want me to touch him then, thought 3P-chan, so she turned to carry on her journey to work. But The Great White German Shepherd yelped until she turned around again and he strutted from her left to her right, showing off his beautiful fur. Come and touch my beautiful fur, he seemed to be telling her.

3P-chan laughed. What is The Great White German Shepherd trying to do?

And so 3P-chan sat down by a flat stone on the opposite side of the road and watched The Great White German Shepherd as intently as she could, trying to figure out what to do.

365 days passed by.

If I didn't hear the story wrong, 3P-chan had not gone to work since, and The Great White German Shepherd, he is still happily showing off his fur.

The End.

*Disclaimer*
Hey! I'm not deliberately exuding this morose mood in my blog! This post was borne out of a combination of the right time and inspiration. And as with all 'literary expressions' (as HW put it), it might be reflective to a certain extent but it sure doesn't make up my entire pie. So cheers!

Last week has been pretty fun. It was ZJ’s holidays and JY and I took it upon us to ensure his utmost discipline in studying; I suspect he secretly enjoyed it. We went in to JB for an intensive studying trip, or so we planned. The two pigs were still sleeping when I composed part of this blog entry while looking forward to breakfast. Hee hee.

I think ZJ really did a lot more work than he would normally have done and perhaps now he can understand that he has the capacity to study when he put his heart to it. As JY said, studying is a sacrifice but, ZJ you have to do it for now! And you can do it!!!

I’ve never been very happy with the education system in Singapore. I’ve always felt like I’d been herded into it, the extra limb chopped off to fit into their mould of a worthy being. But the alternative is no easy way out, most of the time it’s too big a risk to take. Such is the pains of reality in Singapore and possibly a large part of the world. Try to think of studying as a branch of filial piety then, since it’s what our parents want us to do all the time anyway. I am grateful for the opportunity to receive education, just not for the monotonous content and the lack of choice. Oh, and the boring teachers. (Better cunning than boring, isn’t it?)

There’s a fundamental difference between being in JB and Singapore and that is, that my parents were not there to quietly monitor my slackness. I’ve been meaning to say this for sometime now. I feel that there’s an invisible haze of pressure following me everywhere when I’m in Singapore. I know that some pressure is good and I will handle it, but I need just a little while more to recuperate. Although my current situation seem to be cause for worry, I don’t think I’ll remain problematic for long. Really.

And as I type this, I’m aware that I’m telling it more to myself than anybody else. Well, I do have a knack for talking to myself. Hee hee.

Oh well, all things big or small, bad or good will blow over in time to come. Time is the antidote because when they all become memories, it’s just gonna be good :)

Yay!

mix copy

I found two photos on Little Prawn that I think look pretty nice. The one with HW was taken with HW’s mobile and the one with JY is taken with erm… JY’s mobile… ZJ’s famous ‘No stress. No Worries. Just TUITION’ photo was taken at TCC the other night, the moment when elemental lights emerged from his back (cannot see from this picture).

For the uninformed:
elemental 1. wild and powerful; like the forces of nature (the elemental fury of the storm) 2. basic and important (an elemental truth)

DSCN2017

Oftentimes, before I fall into sleep, my mind is filled with little snippets of interesting dialogue or scenarios that keep me awake. I would think to blog about them the next day but alas, I will lose them all to the deep, dark night and as daybreak comes along, I haul an empty head awake.

The two seconds when I first rouse from sleep is perhaps my most innocent and pure self, (as what Justin had said in an interview). And I think it is true. But the fun only kicks in at the third second when my brain fills up with memories of the long and short term and I remember that yesterday and today are reasons to smile. I’ll need five more minutes to indulge in this semi-slumber. A gratifying way to wake up.

Then there were times, when waking up was a nightmare, when the impending day meant responsibilities that I dreaded or consequences that I feared. There were times when I wished I could melt into my bedsheet and go back into the land of reality. Because, after all, dreams are my reality lalalala… haha! You all know that song?

Recently, it has been ok. The nights are not that bad, the difficulty in falling asleep has become a habit that I can work around. Sometimes I’m kept occupied to the point of drowsiness and it’ll probably take thirty minutes from then. I also know that if I really tire myself out in the day, I’d probably sleep easy. I went swimming on Monday and was dead tired when ten o’clock came around, only to wake up three hours later… feeling well rested. So that was good.

Anyway, there must be a gazillion serious, important things happening in the world right now, yet here I am blogging about my sleeping habits. Haha! Ooh… my nails are growing too, have I told you that? Haha!

DSCN5316

Ok, ok, I actually baked yesterday! I took out the trusty ol’ F&N file for reference and ended up with little fairy cakes. Oh, I really mean FAIRY cakes. Hahaha! The narcissist wrote my name on this one! To tell you the truth, this is the only one that I bothered to take a picture of because piping the cream took some effort so later I just spread it all out on top. My tuition kid (he’s only ten years old) got to try some of the cakes (nice or not?) because he had been such a good kid!!! Because he blogged about me!!! He wrote some things that were true (sing well, innocent, patient… the usual…) but there were also some lies (me? cunning? how on earth?). I guess it’s up to me to steer him away from such vices (such as lying) from now. I am, after all, his tutor… heh heh heh…

Oh, and for somebody who totally doesn’t deserve such luxury, I am very lucky. Ming bought me these!!!

DSCN5313

I AM STILL A SONY FAN!

Saturday, 3 March 2007

I’m back! Yoohoo!!! I’m home!!! Have I announced that yet? I’m back in Singapore! I’m finally home!
Gosh, I just realized that I have not, as I should, announced my arrival with aplomb! But you know I’m back, you know it, and it has been a few months but still, I need to give a whoop (whoop!) and say it again. I’m so glad to be home! So, so, so happy!!!
So glad to be back where I can have a life, I mean like a normal life… like go out and have things to do!!! And be surrounded by onz people!!! I feel normal again, well, almost. Anyway, here are the overdue pictures taken at the airport, the day I came back.

I saw for the first time in my life a live ultrasound scan the other day. Exciting! Jane, I’m documenting this for you! It was with much excitement that the three of us (Daddy, Mummy and Fairy) sat at the waiting area of the ultrasound department. Ok, the wait wasn’t that exciting… while Hendry (Daddy) managed to charm a kid, all I got was an article on eating disorders!!! Argh!!! When I read the article and said, “Wahlao, so scary.” Jane (Mummy) actually replied. “Yah, that’s why you don’t become like that.” Argh!!! Misunderstood again!!! Hendry, what have you been telling her!!! Ok, never mind. Oh and no prizes for guessing who Fairy is!!! Lalalala… hahaha…

Then the Scanner (hahaha, I don’t think she’s a nurse but she’s not a doctor… she’s the person who does the scans) came and said it was Jane’s turn. “Your husband can come,” she said… huh… then me leh??? “Only one person at a time in the room, because it’s the delivery room…” Ok, delivery room DAI SAI LOR!!! But Hendry said he’ll go see first then come out so I can go in. YAY! Thanks!!!

When Hendry came out, he was all smiles… should have taken a picture of him! I went into the delivery room (it’s not that small, dunno why the both of us can’t be inside at the same time) and there was Jane on the bed. It was dark. The whole setting was strangely familiar… like, I just expected it to be something like that, other than the darkness. I didn’t think it had to be so dark. I felt like I cannot talk too loudly.

The Scanner then showed me the lungs and liver or kidney (don’t remember)… but, “Boy or girl?” Jane asked her to show me… so she showed me, “There! That’s the girl part.” She said ‘girl part’, those was her exact words lor… snigger… hurhurhur.

I saw little Luo En’s heart beating… so cute. Who could have imagined a strange gray/black, somewhat bean-shaped image can look so cute and so alive? I can’t wait for June/July to come when Luo En can, miraculously, bring even more joy into all our lives! I know all of you children are enthusiastic to try out your new names too… pigs, moon, hobbs, jeans (??), witch… yeah… hahahaha... It’s gonna be so fun!!! And Jane, we’ll all be here to give you the support you need! I feel so proud of you to have taken this big step! Ganbatte!!!

My cute little guinea pig.

From erm… I think the name’s Eric’s Pet Clinic. I saw (him/her?) it for the first time last October, from the glass window of Eric’s Pet Clinic at Happy Valley. I visited it everyday because something drew me to it. Perhaps it’s the black patch on its other eye, or perhaps it’s the diseased skin. It looked so cute, so pitiful but loveable. I really wanted it, not another guinea pig but only IT. It had that ability to make me want to take care of it and like… play with it… hee hee! Ahhh… in my dreams. Anyway, I visited HK again, two months later and it was still there! Its counterpart Black Guinea Pig was gone but Diseased Skin was still there! I love you, Diseased Skin!

Isn’t it funny how people can sometimes grow attached to something/someone foreign and unobtainable (but familiar), yet be nonchalant towards the near and accessible? Ok, the link is quite a distance away so leap with me.

The actress Xu Wei Lun passed away some weeks ago from a freak car accident and her death came as a big shock to many, moved them to tears. A cute young classmate of mine wrote in her blog that she was ultra sad – tears, anger, bewilderment, the entire package. I know how it is, I cried like shit when Leslie Cheung committed suicide.

I met her for class the following weekend. There’s a new security guard, she told me. He is weird. He freaked her out on her way up.

Yes, I noticed there was a new security guard. The uncle that used to say hello and good bye and on one occasion complained at length about something I couldn’t catch wasn’t there today.

She said the new security guard had entered the lift with her and suddenly gave a big moan. He then went on to tell her that the uncle had passed away. So scary, she said.

The uncle passed away?

At this point, the cleaning auntie came in and said, “He had a heart attack. It was just two days ago.” It didn’t seem like a very pleasant journey.

…..

That Xu Wei Lun was young and beautiful and unfortunate is a tragedy and her accident did remind me that life is vulnerable and should be lived not spent. But I will never see the uncle again on Saturdays. I will never hear more of his intelligible grouches. He won’t be there to ‘bye’ me away with his dismissal wave. And I didn’t even say goodbye... And for me, well, this hits harder.

I woke up earlier than usual this morning, thinking, about my birthday last week. I just had my 20th (yes, WH, I’m one year younger than you, now you know!) and it was good to spend the day with family and close friends. Even better that it was CNY so in a way, I celebrated it with everyone I love (other than the few abroad) on the days that preceded the actual.
I haven’t always enjoyed the whole birthday song-cake thing but this year, I liked it. Wei and WH were there to share the limelight with me and we took many good photos like the one above. Thanks Naoki! Your artistic direction is fantastic!

Anyway, I woke up earlier than usual this morning, thinking about the three saddest moments in my life and they are as below:

1) When my granddad passed away and I saw how sad my parents were.
2) When I couldn’t cope with Belle and had to send her back.
3) When I left Japan in 2002, it’s inevitable but I was still sad.

And I think, hey, I’m ok! My life is actually blissfully cushioned with extended periods of happiness. I tried to think of my three happiest moments but it wasn’t easy. There were too many in the running! I may be melancholic but it seems I’ve never left the humour too far behind, which, I think, is a good thing.

Haven’t been having much of an appetite lately though… which is a bit sianz. I think I took an hour to finish my yong tau fu last night and I didn’t even finish it. Pui!

About 2 weeks ago the girls and I went to Da Paolo’s – HW and Wei’s treat (to quote JY, ‘HW, we love your bonus!’) – and IT HAS BEEN SO LONG SINCE ALL SEVEN OF US GOT TOGETHER. I wasn’t deliriously happy or anything but I was happy, yep I was and I wonder when will be the next time we get to do something like that again. I can’t post the wonderful seven-of-us pic because there’s something wrong with the picture file. Wei, you’ve to send it to me again!

Ok, actually, I set out to blog about something to do with the happiest and saddest moments of my life… and it was supposed to lead on to something fun and intellectual but I completely digressed and lost my train of thought… so never mind. I shall just post this. Till next time! Haha!
