On the day of Monday, 30 April 2007,09:41:00
Yippee... egged on by HW, I'm gonna be posting alot of long overdue pictures today! I'm just gonna sort of document the events so hopefully it'll not be too boring...
Set One
Jack's Place!!! Just in case some people have a misconception about the restaurant, their food is really in the not-that-ex-yet-quite-tasty region. We were there several weeks ago for dinner. That night was meant to be spent at Balaclava watching Ein, Kewei & Serene sing but cos the place was so crowded and not to mention, DY was actually underaged (WTH!!! That place is for old people???) we left. Oh well, the crowd that night seemed like old-fogey poseurs anyway. After Jack's place we headed to Geylang for durians but we didn't take any pictures there. Ok, the durians that day were just ok... but I think DY had a field time flirting with durian seller 猪强哥! Haha... cute name...
This is what I had for dinner. Here's Ming and me... before I cut my hair. And here's HW & JY, before JY cut her hair! HW was saying she don't have many recent photos taken with JY, there you go! Set Two
About a week ago, I think, Ming & I went down to the Esplanade cos Ein was performing with Kewei, Alfred & Peter. We couldn't resist being touristy and taking pictures!!! Anyway, more tourist activities later!
 Seriously, 有那么开心吗?
And here's Ming, of course she's always 开心!!! Ein looks like a blur here cos my camera is really not that good but in fact she was super cool on stage!!!
A much clearer pic of Ein and the rest of them.
Set Three
WH's friend, Ken, was visiting and she, being the most hospitable host, rounded up the onz-est people in Singapore to keep him company! Heh. I do enjoy showing my friends around when they come... and WH's excitement pre-Ken's arrival reminded me of Lian's trip 3-4 years ago!!! Lian, 快来找我! Ok, we started the day with Yakun brunch then KTV at Cash Studio.
Super emo KTV-ing!!! Thanks Jesse for sharing my emo corner!!! That guy in red is Ken and he sounds like Takeshi Kaneshiro.
Ming doing her thing...
Or course we got to sit in the Toy Car again! Off to shopping as Ken very generously contributed to our well-being by boosting the Singapore economy! WH looking pleased as a cheshire cat!
There's me trying to be funny! This is me again... duh... taking the chance to get more me-in-the-Toy-Car shots when we stopped over at a petrol kiosk. Ming looks good!
Jesse, demonstrating how and where to pump petrol. Cool right? And finally, a group shot outside MOS at the end of the long, long day... which didn't feel that long really! (Hey! HW, we don't look that oily!) Set Four
Ming and I just can't seem to get enough of the tourist thing! Last Sunday, when there was no singing class, we decided to check out Earshot cafe at The Art House.
We were on our way there from Raffles Place station. The weather looks so good on picture but infact the heat was maddening! And here I am posing with my birthday present from the gals! Erm... some of the gals still don't know that this is their birthday present to me so let me tell ya gals now! Hehheh... I want some 黄俊郎 books as my prezzie! Thanks! Erm... I've bought them so you can pay me next time! 哈哈哈!(I'll blog more on the books in another entry... I started on the first one and it's quite inspiring!)
Taking pictures of Ming like that reminds me of the time when me and her went touring in Yokohama. It was so fun! I really miss all the day trips (or just trips) we took together. I remember we walked like shit at Yokohama and it was kinda cold but all the pictures turned out so nicely. The discovery element was very strong as we made our way into little nooks and crannies and found quaint little shops. Ahhh... Japan... When I think back on those Japan times now I realise how I possessed an inquisitive spirit then... and now? Ahhh! Fat arm!!! Hahaha... why do my pictures all look like 沙龙照!Anyway, on this tourist-foreigner thing, so I kinda look like a Japanese on my good days, right? I was doing a recording for Tristan the other day (should have been a good day) and upon knowing that I majored in Japanese Studies, Tristan's friend, Adrian, who was mixing for us, said, 'Oh... no wonder you look abit like a Japanese! It's purposely one right? Ohhh... it's purposely one, right?' Hahahaha... no leh, it's not purposely one! How to purposely??? Singapore can look nice too!!! :) This is Earshot cafe. We came because I felt like writing and 早报 ran a very positive feature on them that morning. Thing is, they don't serve food on Sundays so we could only get drinks. Still, it is a nice quiet place with a literary ambience and indeed, it was conducive for writing.
Here's my cup of cappucino, looking very depressed. Hurhur.
And to prove that I was there!Ok, more pics next time! Hopefully we'll take some nice ones at today's picnic! Ahhh... I'm late already!

On the day of Friday, 20 April 2007,15:57:00
I knew I shouldn't have succumbed to a cup of coffee at the cinema yesterday evening. It kept me awake past 3 a.m. last night! Panda alert... ... yawnz... thank God it's Friday!
Anyway, was watching the Hong Kong Film Awards a few nights ago. Eric Tsang opened the event with a speech lamenting on the closure of cinemas in Hong Kong over the course of the year. Movie goers are opting to stay at home with DVDs now more than ever, leaving the Hong Kong movie market dwindling and pathetic. This is not the first time I've heard such news, think it has been this message at the last and last, last and last, last, last award as well. 'Support Asian movies', they've been repeating this year after year, for the longest time but it seems, to no avail. Sigh.
According to the thespian, movie makers always start-out to make something that could only be maximised on a big-screen cinema-theatre. That's the experience they want to give but as more and more people begin to disregard this, they are I suppose, discrediting their art as well. But then again, I do think many Hong Kong movies nowadays are made for the small screen, don't you think? Look at those many, many comedies some of which are not even funny. It seems to me such movies are made with solely commercial-value in mind. Not even entertainment. I do value entertainment but I would so much more if it were a combination of creativity, thought and passion. Thank God there are still people like Daniel Wu (and of course those other nameless faceless warriors that I dunno of).
As LZ had said to me last night, some people in production are just going through the motions. They don't seem to want pride in their work anyway (anymore?). A pity. But LZ's attitude in her work is really great! I really admire her for following her dream and persevering and finally doing so well now. She and (some of) her colleagues seem to have a great rapport. It must be fun to work surrounded by these creative types, especially when she is one of them.
We were watching Meet the Robinson's last night and whilst I cried buckets because of the inspirational theme, LZ cried from an epiphany. She realised again why she's in animation – because she simply has a passion for it.
Passion.
In all, my whole of last night was coloured with Meet the Robinson's slogan 'Keep Moving Forward'. It just made so much sense. In life, in matters big and small, even when you think you're being obstinate holding on to your passion, remember that it's essential to be moving forward. It is then you can get a taste of the journey, a taste of being alive. Inertia would just mean a big waste of time.

Chef Chuan of Brewerkz is a person that would not have crossed my path had WH not started work in her current job and invited me to dinner with her last night. He is an interesting character, not unimaginable or out of this world, but I think it’s cosmic intervention how we were having first-time conversations yet some of the things he said in general seemed like advice tailored just for me. Get what I mean? These things just happen sometimes.
He seemed like a happy-go-lucky guy, dreaming with his feet firmly planted on the ground. He is a happy man. I’m dead sure. Serious about his work yet never worrying excessively, taking each situation as it comes while fulfilling what he thinks is responsibility – in work and in life. "Life is fun!" he said. He has the ability to discover the humour in things. And also, Carpe Diem, I think that was what he was trying to convey.
I really do believe in Carpe Diem. I want to Carpe Diem.
I want to live in the now and be happy, just for this moment. Not being hung up about eternal happiness, I think, is the key to happiness.
Don’t you find that sometimes, even tomorrow is too far away for you to grasp and to understand?
只要我們在沒有傷害到別人的範圍之内,
現在的快樂 怎樣都比 未來的幸福 更實在。
Don’t you think???
So… children!!! Liberate yourselves today and allow yourselves some instant gratification, now!!! Relax. Enjoy, Life!!! Because this is what it's all about.

Cool or not?
Very!
Ahhhh… I just answered my own rhetoric question. Next thing you know, I’ll be sprouting horns. Hahaha… Ok, you can’t actually see the entire jeep from here but I'm on a jeep, and a very old-school, military one for that matter! This lean mean machine belongs to a friend of Jesse who has very graciously passed Jesse the keys for the longest time. (I also want a friend who can lend me a car.)
When I was in the jeep, there was an overwhelming sensation to show-off because it was just too cool. Ming said she had an urge to wave to random people on the streets. I totally understand.
Jesse, I think you carry the vehicle very well not least cos you sent Ming & me home but because you have that I-drive-this-kinda-gek-sae-car look! Harharhar! I'm crappy today. The security guards at my place were so excited when Jesse turned into my condo and they went, “Oh, this must not be a resident lah! Harharhar!” Erm… are you saying the jeep’s too cool for people in my area??? Grrrrrrr…
Okay, anyways, thanks Jesse! I absolutely enjoyed the ride! Here are more pictures of us IN the jeep. (Mind you, not OF the jeep because we always get carried away taking pictures of ourselves. Next time I take a picture of the jeep and only the jeep, ok?) Blurry pic, doesn't show much, that bit you see there is part of the CTE tunnel. This was taken on WH's birthday at the very narrow Haji Lane where Jesse did a Haru, maneuvering the jeep. The usual suspects, posing happily, as usual.
